What we tell our grandchildren can affect them for the rest of their lives.  It is so important to let them know that they can be anything they want and be whoever they want.  My mother and father never taught me this and it took me years and years to realise that I could and can do anything that I put my heart and soul into.

We should install in our grandchildren that everyone is the same no matter what colour, race or creed, that we shouldn’t mock those people that are less fortunate than we are.

We should teach our grandchildren to be polite, to look at people when they speak to us, to be kind, loving, generous, gentle with others, to be honest, not to steal and to walk through life with their heads held high.

We need to teach our grandchild to respect their elders, to open doors for older people, to be polite and be courteous, to remember to say “please” and “thank you.”

If we can teach our grandchildren these basic elements then we have truly done a good job in raising them.

To all grandparents who are raising their grandchildren, never ever under estimate the job that you are doing, you are all such wonderful people to be raising children again.

May the sunshine on you all and bring you all the happiness and contentment in the world, for you so richly deserve it.
