Stress

Raising grandchildren can be extremely stressful.  We all have different ways of dealing with it below are a few suggestions that might be helpful.

Go for a walk when things get too tough.  Walking gives you time to clear your head, focus on something different and hopefully when you return home you will be more able to face the problem. If you own an MP3 player don't forget to take that when you go for a walk, it’s nice to listen to music.

If you own a cat, stroking it will low your blood pressure and help you remain calmer.

Another good way to help relieve stress is to take up Yoga, if this doesn't suit read a book, do a crossword, meet with friends, go for a swim, go for a bike ride or do something that you enjoy doing by yourself.

Eat plenty of whole grains, lean-protein rich foods and plenty of fruit and vegetables.  Limit you daily intake of coffee, tea and alcohol, drink plenty of water instead.

Have a good balanced diet of meat, fish, buts and low fat dairy products to help boost zinc and magnesium levels.  Try to have good portions of fruit and vegetables each day.

Most important have a good breakfast and if possible include a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice which in turn will increase your vitamin C intake.

Executive B is a great way to combat stress.  I take one a day and find that I am much calmer and less likely to get angry, also not as tired at the end of the day.  Please talk to your chemist about it before commencing you need to make sure that it suits you and doesn't clash with any other medication you may be taking.

If you are overly stressed, please consult your doctor.

Whatever happens in your day, please don't forget to take time to smell the roses!
